The first one was on the Space bar of my computer last night and the other is a little beauty. It was about one & a half inches across the wings and just arrived about 10 minutes before I did this thread at 23:45hrs.
Hi Reader,
Your second specimen is a Small Magpie Moth (Pyralid)
No.1. has me a little confused, it looks like one of the 'Snout' moths but none that I know of are green. The palps are reminiscent of some of the Pyralid moths but I can't see any that fit. I'll sleep on it.

Thanks you guys but I have to say that I would never have picked out No 1 as a Bee Moth. I have the UK moths CD and the Bee Moths look a bit different on that disc.

I asked Ian Kimber about quite a few Moth ID's last year and I asked him if he had a CD of Moths I could have. He said that he did have one and I paid a tenner for it.
I have attached what it looks like when I open it up.
I forgot to add. Here is a link to Ians site if you didn't already know it>
I agree but at the moment the cost of any birding trips I do isn't leaving me with any spare cash. I have to balance seeing the birds or buying a book. No contest at the moment.
