Jan: Looking forward to the results! One quick question which may seem odd, but are the 'military' green color of the 8x30 objective the same green as shown on the 'stock' made for the public green armouring? I only ask because I've only seen pictures of the military models and they seem to show a little different shade than the stock green armouring. Or are my eyes doing a color shift? Thanks!

I can't check any difference in color at this moment since both bins are at Wim's place, but I do have the 10x40 military and the civil one in GA and I can see no difference in color between both. The military is ##7929... and the civil is from ##8551... I remember that the 30mm was from ##81....

Jan: Thanks for checking! Didn't think there was a difference unless some military organization wanted a specific tint of 'olive drab' for their binos!

This depends on the stock status at Swarovski's.
The current stock is a cancelled militay order and when a new batch is made the purchage price (as they told me today) will be 500,00 euro's higher.
As for now the price for this 8x30GACF model will be 900,00 euro's ex VAT as long as this Swaro stock is available.
The next step will be a conversion of a 8x30GAIF and a 7x42GACF which could/should lead to a 10x42GAIF and a 5.5x30GACF.
That would result in a price drop of 100,00 euro's.
This will be done next week.

I also want to thank Jan for making the impossible possible. He went far beyond what I ever expect a dealer to do.
I should have the binocular in a week or so. I'll try to post a review within a week after it arrives.

It was Henry's idea to swop the objectives between the 10x40WGACF with the ones from the military 8x30GAIF which would result in a Central Focus Rubber Armoured 8x30W. Wim de Boer did that for him. He also removed the reticle from the IF30, swopped the prismdeckplate 10x40 and 8x30, collimated and purged them again.

As it turns out this conversion will not be possible. The focal lenght of the oculair and the objective can't be matched. It would need a extra ring of two centimeters on the 30mm objective lens.

Sorry mate, we've looked at the possibility for a extensionring with the right thread at both sides but the endresult was a really very ugly bin:-C

Wim builts the 30 to the 40/42 and vice versa, so no left overs

The Beauty and the Beast. Hell of a bin though, only sad Canon provides 1 year warranty on electronics (and not even a week longer:-C).
