Coney Meadow and Adjoining Areas (3 Viewers)

Just 8 Glow worms seen yesterday evening - the glowing season seems to be coming to an end - probably only another week or so and they will become harder to find.
 
A quick walk around Coney this morning before work. Lots of warbler activity, including many Chiffs, Blackcaps, Reed, Sedge, Common Whitethroat and Lesser Whitethroat. Other than that, very quiet.
 
Another Redstart this morning - this time a male at Tapenhall farm.

A Little Grebe on Tapenhall fishing pool and one yesterday between Hawford and Chatley.

A Peregrine again near Chatley perched on electricity pylons.

A Little Owl this morning at Ladywood.

A Tawny Owl hooting at Salwarpe this evening and Noctule over.

Just 4 Glow worms this evening - 2 along the railway track and 2 along the Roman Way bypass.
 
A male Yellow Wagtail at Tapenhall Farm this morning landed in a dead tree and gave good views.

Little Grebe and family party of Coots between Hawford and Chatley still.
 
A Common Tern flew over carrying a small fish at 17:30 this afternoon - viewed from the canal towpath by Coney Meadow.

Peregrine again between Chatley and Tapenhall - also present yesterday morning.

A juv Willow Warbler at Coney yesterday morning.
 
Two Common Terns flew from Mildenham to Hawford.

A Little Egret flew over Egg Lane towards the Severn.

A Willow Warbler juv near Mildenham.

Little Grebe between Hawford and Chatley.
 
Further birds from this morning:

Little Owl perched in oak tree in the middle of horse paddock between Egg Lane and Jacob's Ladder.

A Peregrine flew over the same area.

A Hobby chasing hirundines over Copcut Rise.

Kestrel, Kingfisher, 2 Cormorants, further Willow Warbler, Reed Warblers, Sparrowhawk, Buzzards, Grey Heron, Red-legged Partridge, Raven.
 
A male Yellow Wagtail flew over low between Hawford and Chatley yesterday morning. An eclipse male Tufted duck was on the farm pond along there.

The Peregrine was patrolling the area again and a Kingfisher was seen a couple of times.

A Tree Pipit just flew low over Coney Meadow calling - new for the year.

Green Sandpiper, Little Grebe and Tufted Duck on small pool between Hawford and Chatley.
 
Two Greylags flew over Tapenhall this morning. An adult Little Grebe, eclipse drake Tuted duck and family of Coots still on small pool Chatley/Hawford.

Lots of hirundines around Tapenhall and Salwarpe - especially Swallows.
 
A few further items from today:

A Water Rail calling from Coney reedbed this evening - the first I've heard for a few months.

Female and male Tawny Owls calling from Salwarpe.

A pair of Peregrines perched on a pylon near Ladywood this morning - viewed from Middleton bank.

A female Peregrine at Tapenhall earlier - probably from the pair.

Tufted Duck at Hawford /Chatley.

Still plenty of common warblers around.
