2013 will see Cornwall Birding team up with AK Wildlife Cruises to offer a range of estuary and pelagic boat trips from falmouth. We will be arranging or 'Seabird and Cetacean Pelagics' throughout the summer and short range trips in the Carrick Roads and Gerrans Bay through what is left of the winter and into Spring. Keep an eye on out at www.cornwall-birding.co.uk for a full list of events coming soon!!

Carrick Roads and Gerrans Bay (3rd March 2013)

The very first date has now been arranged for Sunday 3rd March 2013. There are only two spaces left available so book now to avoid disappointment!! See HERE for details.

Where will the pelagics head for, and how far out are you licenced for? And when will your 'summer' season extend to?

Hi Steve, we sail from falmouth and will be off the Lizard peninsular as far as we need to be for the birds really, not sure how far the boat is licenced for but I imagine 20+ miles. The boat owner is hoping to upgrade to a catamaran next year so 60+ miles will be easily possible. You don't have to go far for stuff off the south coast generally. Im hoping to start the pelagics in July and go through to mid-september depending on weather, then we'll be back in the bays and Fal estaury for the winter. I'll find out the exact distance we are licenced for and get back to you. We only take 8 persons at a time so theres plenty of room and seating.

More Dates Set for Pelagics!!

We now have a full range of Fal Estuary, Gerrans bay and seabird pelagics trips available for 2013. Have a look HERE for more details and available dates.

Sunday 23rd June - Pelagic

We still have places available on our 7 hour seabird pelagic on 23rd June. Members of Cornwall Birding Team will be on board!! We will be using our new ‘chum’ mixture to attract the birds. Manx Shearwaters should be in good numbers at this time of year with a chance of Storm Petrel and Balearic Shearwater and hopefully something rarer! We will no doubt bump in to our resident Choughs on the way in and out of the estuary too! See our Events/Pelagics Page for details and booking. or e-mail [email protected] if interested.
