Black Bird w/Crest on head seen in Tucson, AZ (1 Viewer)

I saw a bird last night that looked like a slightly skinnier, smaller cardinal except that it was black. It had the crest of feathers on it's head like a cardinal and sort of the same shape.

I've haven't had much luck in trying to figure out what it was. This is what I get for leaving the house with out my camera.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chad

Agree - a black bird with a crest, in Arizona, is going to be a Phainopepla.

Or a very, very melanistic Cardinal. ;-)
