I have a minolta maxxum 5. I am going to buy a Sony alpha a100 because of the lens mount. I have 1 75-300mm lens. would using a 1.5 or 2.0 teleconverter take away from image quality. I have seen pictures taken with teleconverters that look glassy and have kind of a flare on the outline of the subject.

Nick I have a 1.4X Sigma and a 2.0X Kenko tele plus. Both work fine on my old 300 f 2.8 in manual mode. The lens does not auto anything bare --too old. Picture quality wise I do not notice any difference. However neither work with my 100-300. The 1.4 physically does not allow the 100-300 to mount as the rear element of the zoom is in the way and the 2X will not lock on auto focus.
