I'm guessing this is either a Song or Savannah. It lacks the center spot but the crown appears to be more gray than white. Please help confirm. Thanks.

It's a Song Sparrow. The tail is too long for Savannah, and it doesn't have white edges. The face is gray, with brownish stripes. This tone of brown is something I see on Song Sparrows a fair amount. Savannahs have shorter tails, edged in white, and a lighter face color, quite often with yellow on the supercilium near the bill and eye. Here are some Savannah Sparrow shots, many from Texas. http://www.greglasley.net/savannahsp.html

I agree that it's a song sparrow and that the long reddish tail is an indicator of this. Some but not all Savannah sparrows do have white or pale outer tail feathers.

Scratch my statement about white outer tail feathers.

Savannah's tail is (often) notched, while the tail of Song is rounded.
