Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

You'll likely get more answers to your question if you post a copy of it in the Bin sub-forum which is here. Just start a new threa.

The Helios AM6 are good value, lightweight and will do the job. The Nikon Monarch is sharper, with a smoother, precise focusing system and worth the extra spondoolics. The Helios has a 1year warranty, I think, whilst a Nikon UK Monarch should carry a 10 year warranty. There is also a High Resolution AM6 which is worth considering whilst also noting that the Monarchs have been restyled and should be available in the UK some time this spring/summer. Again, you have to try them out and see which bino suits you - good luck. There are also similar priced optics from Opticron, Hawke, Minox, Vortex .......get down to your local dealer - may help by letting BF members know which county you reside in so that you can find a shop (if there's any left!)
