Anyone fancy a last minute trip to Azerbaijan (or Nakhchivan to be more precise)? To look for "Lesser White-Fronted Goose ( on wintering), See-see Partridge, Black-belled Sandgrouse, Bimaculated Lark, Eastern Rock Nuthatch, Mongolian Finch ( ?), Grey-necked Bunting, Desert Finch ( ?), Paled Rock Sparrow (?). If weather will be appropriate it is possible to do attempt to see Caspian Snow Cock."

I'll probably spend a few days in and around Baku at the end as well for some more birding and general sightseeing.

I'm no expert on Azerbaijan birds, but i would imagine that, being migrants, Grey-necked Bunting, Bimaculated Lark and Pale Rock Sparrow would all have left for the winter by then.

Thanks, yes I hadn't really thought it through. Probably not worth going to Nakhchivan. I gather there is good birding in winter along the Caspian coast but I'm not sure there's much that you wouldn't see quite widely. I was thinking the lapwing would be good to look for but it seems that's a summer migrant too.
