Green Heron Nest! (1 Viewer)

My dad came home yesterday to annouce that he had found a Green Heron nest in a tree right next to the parking garage at his work. After dinner, he took me there. Sure enough, there was a flimsy stick nest in a spruce right next to the parking garage. There weren't any herons actually in it, but there were 3 or 4 baby Green Herons hopping around in the trees! Wow! They were close enough for some photos.

We then made a quick stop over ot the mini-marsh. There were four Soras there, and at one point I had 3 in the same binocular view! There were also A. Coots, Killdeers, Mallards, Red-Winged Blackbirds, Rough-Winged and Barn Swallows, Marsh Wrens and a Least Sandpiper.

Cute herons. They never look like birds that would be in trees to me. Kind of comical with their crest...

How lucky you are to see baby Green Herons! Thanks for showing us the photos. They are lovely.
