We fed birds with seeds and peanuts, and then I lost interest and stopped. 2 years later i became interested again (in may) and have been feeding ever since. It took the birds ages to become accustomed with the feeders again, especially the peanuts! Don't give up just yet.
loads of birds were coming to the nuts, including a GSW! It became empty and I didn't have a change to refill for a few days as I had run out of peanuts. It has been full again now for a few days and nothing except the occasional starling, tit or greenfinch is touching them!
