GS52 Tripod Ring/Sleeve Modification (1 Viewer)

Birds? What Birds?!
Hi all

Just in case we don't manage to persuade the birding mags to print this, I've attached a copy of a note we're sending to them to advise their readers of a mod for the GS52 scope range:

"Opticron has advised that it is has updated the design of the tripod sleeve on its GS 52 GA ED Travelscopes. Initial batches were fitted with the sleeve from the GS 665/GS 815 which, when used in its reversed position as on the GS 52, prevented fitment of certain types of quick release (QR) plate. Specifically, any QR plate with a locating pin 14mm in front of the tripod screw could not be fixed to the scope with the locating pin in place. The new sleeve design accommodates this type of QR plate set-up.

Any GS 52 owner that purchased their scope between August 2009 and January 2010 and that would like to have the new tripod sleeve fitted should contact Opticron's service department on 01582 726522 or by email at [email protected]. The company will carry out the modification free of charge but the owner must bear the cost of getting the unit sent to Opticron for modification."

Please feel free to ask any questions you want to about this and I'll try to answer!

Cheers, Pete
