Is this sound a Long-eared Owl? (1 Viewer)

Today we had a probable owl down the road from us. It was vocalizing quite a bit but as we approached it stopped. We couldn't find it even though we looked pretty well. It sounds somewhat like a cross between a dog and an owl. I am almost certain that it isn't a dog as there were no tracks in any of the area near where it was calling from and it didn't really sound right for a dog either. We listened to it for about 15 minutes before we moved closer and it became silent.

Let me know your thoughts.

Not sure what it is..... at first I thought Saw-whet but after listening a little more that's not right. I can't really it all too well either.

Yeah, I thought it had some sort of Saw-whet quality as well. Maybe it's the spacing and length of the calls. So I thought maybe it was a Boreal as they are closely related but Boreal doesn't sound anything like it.

The sound clip really isn't that good.
I am going to try again tomorrow but in the mean time any opinions are appreciated.
