Hi all. I wanted to share a simple but effective feeder-watching tip which I haven't seen in any bird-feeder books. You may already know about this, but it's been remarkable for me.

My feeders are a few feet outside the backyard patio doors. I had the glass in the patio doors tinted by a company that does this for auto glass, banks, etc. The effect is mirrorlike from outside, but transparent from inside. It cost about $200 USD for 2 full-size doors.

Birds get pretty close, some closer than others. Occasionally they pick up seed scattered just outside the doors, and enable viewing from an inch away.
