Hi
Hopefully next week i'll spend sometime exploring the east coast of Scotland between Ruddons Point and Inverness. Any suggestions of particular places I should visit, and what might be seen? - are many seaduck/divers/grebes likely to be about?? Any white winged gulls? Any good spots for petrels/shearwaters?Inland, are there likely to be any young osprey around still?
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Should still be some juv Osprey around Spey Bay.

Unlikely to be many white-winged gulls about yet, though there is/was a rather scruffy (!!) 1st summer Glaucous Gull summering at Amble (Northumbs; hasn't been reported for a week or two, but I'm not sure if anyone's bothered to look!)

Red-necked & Slav Grebes should be arriving around now at their usual sites (Musselburgh, Largo Bay, etc)

Best seawatching spots, St Mary's & Newbiggin in Northumbs, Fife Ness, Girdle Ness in Aberdeen, and Buchan Ness / Peterhead north of Aberdeen. Fife Ness is also an excellent spot for passerine migrants after east winds & rain.

Michael
