The cycle commute today was painfully cold, nothing brave, nothing bold.
Just saving money and being tight, at least the mornings are a little more light.
 
sup bro? Fried day it is. Full sun and warm. Tweedy birds are out and hawks on the hunt want to feast on them. Nature full of fury and red in tooth and claw and us humans on top of the pile. All of us.

Mountain Ash towers
half a thousand feet of sky
through the mists of time
sheer will gravity defies
this silent witness high

Even when blown water-drops
menacingly lash swaying tops
strong limbs lovingly embrace
those sheltering in their grace

Below stillness lulls ferny grove
last rays of warmth quickly fade
a filtered vermillion glow
nocturnal dwellers stir
and scurry to and fro

Other worldly whoo hoos pierce the night
soundless flight launchpad
sky hollows from which the powerful alight
invisible harbinger of death add
just cause for nervous fright

Sentinel of the ages
in your heart wisdom resides
tacit approval through antiquity
A tale of two futures now divides

Will you reach with limbs outstretched
once more into these lonely skies
a central beacon of hope
for critters that otherwise would die

Only if those sleeping breeders
wake up, stop, and turn around
to see you in the mirror
and respect your right to life profound
safe sanctuary, paradise every river

For five centuries you've seen them come and go
these beneficiaries of light
angels grant them yet one more chance
although sometimes you wonder why
