I think form the bill shape and the colourings and tail that this is a pipit. the picture of its legs is not conclusive so how do I know if this a Rock or meadow pipit. Taken on a coastal path in Pembrokeshire in April this year

Thanks . What was the identification that made you choose the Meadow Pipit ?

An easy feature is in Meadow the body streaks are distinct and the base colour is pale. In Rock the streaks look smudgy (like the ink has run) and the base colour is darker..... along with darker legs and a longer, stronger bill.

Thanks Mick , great detail , just hoping to see something other than a meadow pipit!
