I have seen a bird recently by the Brayford Pool, right in the centre of Lincoln. Its body is bigger than a mallard, more the size of a goose, but its neck is not as long as a goose, more like a duck, in proportion to body size. It has webbed feet, its feet and legs are yellow. Its beak and the skin around its eyes are bright red, and there is some sort of growth above the beak and below the eyes which is also bright red. The back is predominantly black, but with a greenish sheen, the underside and neck are predominantly white, the head white with some greyish black markings.
There are at least three adults, and although they have webbed feet, they always seem to be on the bank rather than in the water.
