Re: Jackdaw

Hi! New to all this forum business but am going to send this one out to cyberspace and see what happens.
I have been rehabing wood pigeons and the likes of other unpopular (with some shallow humans who are all too common and unpopular in my books!) common species of birds for a couple of years. I have an aviary of 'permenants' that have had various injuries and are unable to be released and have up to now been very happy with their little haven of calm after all their troubles. However I have found myself with a jackdaw is causing some upset amongst my residents. He is not causing any direct trouble himself is very happy chilling out in the aviary. However one of my very treasured woodies that Ive had since a squab and would consider the closest of all my best friends seems upset with the jackdaw's presence. He used to love perching on the high branch in the avairy but since the introduction of the jack who also loves that same perch my woodie keeps putting himself to bed back in the shed despite the fact he has a very wonky wing and cant fly well at all! And he has also started to make some obscure noises and flap his wings compulsively in a stressed way. Unfortunately althought the jack is lovely and I have spent lots of time and money at the local bird vet to get him to survive his maggot infested wing that was hanging off.. he will have to go somewhere where he can be catered for better if he doesn't fit in with the other birds here. I have searched the internet for a specialist jackdaw sanctuary but to no avail. I am in regular contact and work alongside 2 wild bird sanctuaries in the area but nowhere seems any more suitable than here to home the little one. Any advice would be helpful!
