Question ID of prey bird in Norwich, CT USA

Hi, everyone. Can you tell me what kind of bird got stuck in my pool? To my inexperienced eyes, most of the photos of various species look the same.

Poor thing was probably just exhausted after wrestling that string. It was able to spread its wings fully and stand on its own when we released it.

A few people on a frog forum (Yes, I love my critters) are suggesting it might be an osprey. That's one bird I can look at photos of and say "I really don't think so..." What do you think? Definite no?

I almost forgot. Here is a photo of it before I got it unstuck. Those tadpoles really have no idea...

Definately not an Osprey. Red-shouldered Hawk for me too.
