A quick visit to the Flashes this afternoon, hopefully be able to get down a bit more this winter and make it to a few work parties. Sightings from the Flashes included;

Adult Female Peregrine on the masts
2 Adult Rook
Cetti's singing from 3rd flash reedbed
Yellowhammer calling in fields behind the hide
120+ Redwing whizzing about, 2 Fieldfare
2 Sparrowhawk, 2 Stock Dove
52 Moorhen

Think John covered everything else! Good to see the reserve looking so well managed!

a couple of pics from yesterday

1. The eclipse male pintail
2. The newly improved west section of the 'pool island'. If the work hadn't been carried out last week, it would have been submerged.

The two ringed first winter Black-headed Gulls in last nights roost were: White Ring - TOYE, right leg, nothing on left: and Yellow Ring - PA86, right leg, silver BTO ring on left. The white ringed gull appears to originate from Poland, and I've dropped the guy responsible a line for details. I've not been able to trace anything for the yellow ringed gull. JS

Visited this morning the north Moors was closed I could here machinery on the go then saw a tree fall didn't notice any notices just red & white tape

Little Egret, 4 Shelduck & 2 groups of Wigeon (7 & 5) later 12 on Flashes presume they were the same birds.
