Violet-green, Rough-winged Swallows and Purple Martin near or in Los Angeles? (1 Viewer)

I am looking for any information on these three birds.

I have a book on Los Angeles Birds, which it says the VG and RW are spring migrants, and it doesn't even mention Purple at all, though I keep finding and hearing information about this bird around here (not neccesarily in the city, but close by).

These are three birds I have failed on several occasions to find, and would much appreciate any news that may lead me to their discovery.

Perhaps this is more at home in Local Patches, but I'd wager that area of the forum doesn't get that much attention, or maybe that's me being paranoid.

Thanks in advance.

The power of eBird should give you what you want. Here's an eBird bar chart of LA county for the current month: http://ebird.org/ebird/GuideMe?step...ounties=US-CA-037&continue.x=22&continue.y=12

Click on the species of interest and you'll see balloons showing recent sightings. Click on the balloons for the name of the location, or zoom in to see more. You can add adjacent counties or a broader time period as you like. Hope this helps.

Best,
Jim
