Hi, can any of you moth experts ID this for me? Also, is it anything unusual (I can't recall seeing one like it before)?

Looks like a cinnabar moth (Tyria jacobaeae).

They are reasonably common and very partial to ragwort.

They're keen on Groundsel, as well, in gardens- at least their stripey caterpillars are!

I had one in my garden moth trap a few days ago
I'm sure I have a pic of one the right way up somewhere :eek!:
Ah, yes, here it is--sorry it's a bit blurred; light was poor!
The pic on my website is even worse HERE
Must try and remedy the situation!!

Worth keeping a look out for the caterpillars. Here is a picture of one munching on ragwort

I thought the moth was colourful. The caterpllar is even more striking!

I have a thriving colony in my garden... I remove the head to the Ragwort before they seed though!
