The skies of Inverness and the Black isles are devoid of Red Kites. Its beyond words.
One thing I have to ask though is this really a case of deliberate poisoning? Its just so many so quickly - I am wondering if a farm / storage area has had a leak of chemicals that have entered the food chain.
If it is deliberate, 20.....:-C Just going to keep climbing until they are all wiped out unless they get caught.

Update: As of yet the authorities have not stated what poison it was that has decimated the population. Farmers in that area are asking what the autopsy results are, so they may help identify the location of the the culprit substance.
I was sent this today by a contact whom I met on the Raptor Protest Rally in Inverness.
To be honest, I don't know what to think of it and seeing the specialist's name, even wondered if it could be a cruel hoax. Yet it is published by a reputable newspaper.

This thread's a few years' old but I thought folks might be interested in a short film made about this unpleasant incident: https://vimeo.com/141046011
It's made by one of my old students, and I'm pleased to see that it's been widely watched and praised.
