Does any NA member know why they would be banding American Goldfinches?

Struck me odd to find one sporting a bracelet. Sort of like banding the No. Cardinal. Weird.

My first thought was that since AMGOs are susceptible to and carry some of the same infectious diseases House Finches do, perhaps someone is researching that particular angle. Maybe the BBL at Patuxent, or Cornell, would know.

Yeah, I've submitted the pic to both places. Being the weekend though, I don't expect to hear anything soon.
