Alternatives to my rucksack? (1 Viewer)

Anyone found an alternative to rucksacks?

Unfortunately I have quite broad shoulders and most rucksacks tend to slip off my shoulders, I know about cross straps but find them too constricting and have always just cut them off as they get in the way!

My thinking being that if something is pulling weight from my side rather than pulling on my shoulders it will be more secure, also I like the idea of removing bins, note-pad, camera etc without having to remove anything from my back!

Could also do without the sweaty back in very hot weather!

A kit vest like those used by the military might be worth a look, usually lots of pockets to the front and side . Also fly fishing vests I have found to be useful, they do tend to be short but I regard this as an advantage.
