Picture taken on October 19th near a large lake in the woods near Kiev, Ukraine.

Is this a harrier and which one? Could it be Hen Harrier (Circus cyaneus)? If it is possible to tell by such a bad photo.

Thanks in advance!

I can't click on the photos to make them larger for some reason, but looks like a Hen Harrier. The second photo seems to show the wing shape well

The images look a lot like that of what we call a swamp harrier in Austaralia. The distinctive White rump and coloration is a good match. I wonder if they are the same bird with a different name as they look siniliar to the northern harrier as well.

Having googled Swamp Harrier there's no way thats a Hen Harrier..:) although one of the pics of a male does look very like adult male Northern Harrier. Not too sure what the relationships of Swamp Harrier are, but it'd be interesting to find out. Presumably its a local name for something? The bird in the subject pic is a Hen Harrier anyway, with it being an obvious ringtail harrier anyway, and not a Montagu's or Pallid on wing formular or date.
