Common or Lesser Nighthawk? (1 Viewer)

This is a first for me! This was taken yesterday near the Salton Sea, I was actually shooting pics of Red-winged Black Birds and this Nighthawk was on the ground about 20 feet from me.

Great shot. The position of the white mark on the flight feathers below the end of the tertials and the row of distinct gray spots on the wing coverts are good marks for Lesser. Glen

not seen Lesser in field but had lots of Commons in daylight last year. In addition to the location of the white mentioned above, I think the white on the wing is 'whiter' in Common and more buff hued in Lesser as this bird
