Is this a female Canvasback? Seen in Winnipeg.

If it were in Europe I would say it is a Pochard, but not in North America, right?

Yes, Canvasback - the very long, almost Swan Goose/Whooper Swan shaped bill is diagnostic. (The other Pochard lookalike in North America is the Redhead, which is smaller with a much more "rounded" head/bill, like a Tufted Duck without the tuft. Our European Pochard is almost exactly midway between the two!)
