Sad of me I know but I spotted the continuity error in the new BBC drama Passing Bells tonight. The young chap going off to war was a bird-watcher and was looking at a last bird before going overseas. Collared Dove. Oops!

So presumably he is killed in action and fails to record the first for Britain?

American crows are turning up with alarming regularity in British documentries though none have been officially recorded here. Willow Warblers are apparently overwintering and singing in the snow too.
