Recording with an MP3 player (1 Viewer)

I'm using an MP3 player to try to do some recordings, and was hoping to be able to edit my recordings using only what's on my computer, Windows Media Player.

Is it possible to edit the recording? Basically I just want to be able to cut off the excess time...if I get 10 seconds of a bird call and have 20 seconds of recording time, to get it down to near 10 seconds.

I'd recommend downloading the free programme Audacity for editing sound files, although you may need to convert the file to a WAV if it's not already in that format.

MP3 files can be opened & edited in Audacity!? Do you mean that, by converting the original 'lossy' MP3 to 'lossless' WAV, it will suffer no further compression/degradation when exported after editing?

Possibly, but you'll be able to edit it.

What's your suggestion for the OP?
