Fledging Blue Tits (1 Viewer)

Hello,

We have a nest box in our garden which has been used by some blue tits. After a while of the two parents feeding the chicks, we saw a fledged chick hopping around the patio early this morning, which has since disappeared. The nest box is also now empty and the two parent Blue Tits haven't been seen at all today.

We have some dogs here who obviously need to use the garden. Are the newly fledged Blue Tits likely to be sitting on the ground in the garden or will they have flown off now to safety?

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

Fledglings do go on the ground and flutter about clumsily when they first leave the nest. They are very vulnerable at this time as they are slow to react to danger and are often out in the open. They also attract attention to themselves with noisy chirping. After a while they learn to hide and hopefully move to a higher point as they learn to fly better. Once they learn to hide, it is not easy to know where they are unless you can hear them or see the parents going to feed them. They scatter and move can move some distance from the nest.
