Just found this up for sale on EBAY. Is it a good lens, looks like a good deal. Does anyone know if the lens would be worked on by Canon if anything went wrong or is it to old? Any help/advice appreciated.

Canon EF 500mm F/4.5L USM Lens

The buy it now price is $2950.

What do you think?

When I discussed this lens with an authorised Canon repairer they told me that they can no longer get parts for it... so I guess it would be the same in the US. I think at that price you'd do better to go for a Sigma 500 f4.5.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I've been watching for the Sigma, but haven't found one yet. Appreciate the help.
