Spider id kent (1 Viewer)

I thought I would start taking an interest in spiders so photographed these two. To help me learn a bit I purchased the Field Studies Council guide to house and garden spiders.
Having looked at it, it hasn't helped much.
Common as they probably are an ID would be much appreciated as would suggestion for a beginners guide to identifying spiders or similar reading
