Goldenrod bunch gall question (1 Viewer)

I have a question about goldenrod bunch galls. Which insect causes them? I have read in some articles they are caused by the fruit fly Procecidochares atra. Other articles say a midge fly called Rhopalomyia solidaginis. Which is it?

In the UK the Gall Midge Dasineura virgaeaurea also causes the leaves at the tips of Solidago sp. to inroll and bunch together.

Thank you for replying. It does seem there are at least two types of goldenrod bunch galls, each caused by a different insect.
