Viper 8x32 vs EO Ranger ED 8x32? (1 Viewer)

are these two the same optic? The specs look almost identical, but the body shape is a little different but not by much
both have ED glass, dielectric prisms, same exact size and weight, same field of view, locking diopter...etc
I know Eagle Optics and Vortex are one in the same company and some of the EO models are the exact same as some of the Vortex models just black vs green
So what am I missing here? One costs $560 and the other $320
Is this simply a China vs Japan thing or does the Viper have something the Ranger doesn't?

Yes, in short!

Although they share many characteristics incl close focus, FOV, same eyecups, same locking diopter etc, the Vipers are better optically and when put side by side, especially in more difficult light can be seen.

When at field days people have voiced the same opinion, some happy with the Ranger ED for the money, others preferring the better optics of the Viper HDs for the higher price.
