Hi my name is Brian Perroud and i'm planning to visit Namibia (and the Okavango delta) next summer. Could anyone suggest me a good (and possibly cheap, better if local) tour operator? I'd prefer to drive myself but also to have guided birding in some areas.
Thank you very much.

Four of us did a 3 week self-drive birding trip round Namibia, including a visit to the Okavango Panhandle, last October. It was organised by Cardboard Box Travel in Windhoek-have a look at their superb website.Their organisation was faultless as well as being what we thought was extremely cheap.Just over £2k per person for accommodation, car hire, and some of the food.Sadly as a result of Brexit the Rand has appreciated 20% against the Pound, but it seemed to us that the accommodation, some of which was on a par with the remote lodges elsewhere in Africa, was a bargain. The roads are generally very good, but the distances between sites are long. The whole country was extremely dry and the bird numbers seemed quite low in comparison with a visit we made some years ago.We started organising the trip at this time last year, but even then had some difficulty getting the accommodation where and when we wanted it as Namibia has become very popular and July to October is the peak period. There were local bird guides at several of the lodges, but 'The Southern African Birdfinder' is an excellent start for the birding info.If you contact Cardboard Box Travel ask for Allison as she put together exactly what we wanted.Send me a PM if you would like some further details of our trip.

It may be as easy (and probably cheaper) to use local guides at the places you stay rather than to organise everything through a tour operator. There are quite a few birding oriented places to stay in various parts of the country and many of these will be able to do some guided stuff of various kinds. The following are good and offer guided birding:
