Excellent birding day at Rutland Water NR with Shropshire Ornithological Society (organised by (Sue Brealey). Birds seen were as follows: Blackbird, Crow, Jackdaw, Magpie, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Woodpigeon, Collared Dove, Great Crested Grebe, Cormorant, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Shelduck, Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Pochard, Buzzard, Kestrel, Pheasant, Moorhen, Coot, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Dunlin, Black-headed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Swift, Wren (heard only), Dunnock, Robin, Song Thrush, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Long-tailed Tit, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Common Gull, Tree Sparrow, Common Tern, Osprey (M&F), Great Northern Diver, Reed Bunting, Greenfinch, Stock Dove, Egyptian Goose, Garganey, Red-legged Partridge, Ringed Plover, Sanderling, Whimbrel, Redshank, Swallow, Sand Martin, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler,

Great day. Out and high count of birds ,we were there from Derbyshire and saw most of the same birds but missed the great northern the wimbrel and the swift but we did get a little grebe and a red grouse on the way
 
Hi Peter,

Some of the other members got the Black Tern as well. The Little Grebe and the Red Grouse was a good spot. Yes it is a good reserve I haven't been there since the early 80s so saw some big changes.
