Northern Cardinals acting strange (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone!!!!

I have a pair of cardinals that live in my yard. They are usually the first and last visiters to my feeders.... about a week ago I noticed they started feeding from the ground instead of the feeder in the morning. Does anyone know why? They are eating under finches, sparrows, jancos, and other small birds they usually dominant. My feeders are constantly full and clean.

Thank you!!!! I appreciate your feedback.
Heather

I see Cardinals do that often with food like feeder seeds. They love seeds, and as some feeder birds do, these ones have opted for the ground method. :) I see this with feeder politics; Mean house sparrows are not good feeder neighbors, so my cardinals have also opted for the more peaceful ground, with the modos and white-throated / song sparrows. -Jess
