New 100-400 (1 Viewer)

I was thinking of getting the Sigma 150/600 sport but in the end I went for the 100/400 to pair it with my 7dmkII this gives me up to 640 f5.6 fov .
This is my first shot 1/200 f5.6 iso 800 taken at 400mm ( 640 fov ) it was in the shade and about a stop under exposed PP work done .

Good shot Gyrob. Seems just as the MTF charts suggest - as sharp wide open at 400mm as the venerable 400mm 5.6. How far away was your subject?

2 shots here light was poor, 1 with ef 1.4mkIII tc 640mmfov and 400mm .
1/200 f5.6 and 1/200 f8 lifted a bit in PS both have the same sharpening
I never checked the AF speed with the tc seem good but is very quick without tc .

Iv only had the lens a day and a half so have not MA it yet but I do think its a super lens .
Hopefully we will get some light soon to try it properly but I just cant see it not been good from what iv tried so far..

Those who have tried the new 100-400 Mk2 - do they think the IQ at 400mm is equal to the 400/5.6 prime? Or even better?

How does the Mk2 at full zoom with x1.4TC compare with the 400/5.6 with x1.4TC?

If you only look at center, then yes, I'd say the 'stability' of quality of the old 400 is preferable, for consistency, I wouldn't mind IS though.
