Hi everyone,

I've just joined the Forum after many years away from bird watching. My husband and I just bought our first house and there are lots of birds in our yard, including a nesting mourning dove.

Does anyone know how long it takes dove fledgelings to leave the nest? We need to prune the tree to improve its health and don't want to disturb the babies.

Hi Claire, welcome to birdforum from all the staff here, we hope you enjoy the site. I think most young doves leave the nest around 12-15 days after hatching.

regards,
Andy

Hi Claire and a warm welcome to BF :t:

Actually, they don't leave the nest willingly.;) If they are Mourning Doves, the parents, not so nicely, give them the heave ho after/around the time Andy mentioned.

Thanks RE Doves

Thanks Andy.nI'll see if I can get pictures.
