Hello, a question that is completely unrelated to birds. At least on Win7, the search on the top right corner of a windows explorer window can search through Windows office files but not through PDF files for content. Is there an alternative that can do that?

Niels, have you tried putting the entire file name in the search? For example instead of just birdforum put in birdforum.pdf you have probably done so already, just a thought.

If you mean search the text inside a pdf then DocFetcher can do this
http://docfetcher.sourceforge.net/en/index.html
It needs a bit of time to index everything the first time you run it.
It's a good app.
If you just want a big improvement over the windows search then try Everything
https://www.voidtools.com/
It searches document / file names not the content inside them.
Far better then the generic windows search.
