Two herring gulls? and two gannets and a ? (1 Viewer)

Hi saw these today at a windy Newquay headland, also seen were a Purple Sandpiper, Shag, Cormorants and a lot of gulls, I just thought the browner one of the two looked unusual.

Pic 1, the browner gull at the back is a 1st winter Herring Gull (young birds are generally rather brown and become lighter with age). The one in front is an adult Common Gull (smaller than the accompanying Herring Gull and has a smaller and more slender bill profile with no red spot near the tip as in adult Herring Gull).

Pic 2, 2 adult Gannets as you mentioned and a 1st winter Herring Gull.
 
Haha, thanks for that, I got the gull PIC wrong, and how! But I am delighted, a Common gull is not what I was expecting at all, excellent news, thanks again, len
