70-300mm lens for Pentax K100D Super (1 Viewer)

I am considering buying a Sigma 70-300mm APO Macro Super DG lens for my Pentax K100D Super. Any comments on this dare I ask?!!

Not sure what my other options are. Pretty sure I can't afford a Pentax lens though! Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated, as always.

I would use it mainly for garden bird photography, - general wildlife/nature etc

Should I be looking at something better?

Many thanks
Amelia

PS Just seen a Pentax FA 100-300mm 4.7-5.8 AF lens on a well known auction site. Any comments on this one?

You don't specify what you want it for; or how much you want to spend? The Tamron 70-300mm is available from Dovercourt Photography for £69. It does suffer from purple fringe-ing, but the purple fringe remover on Paint Shop Pro sorts that out(reasonably well). There are many reviews on the net of this lens.
