Image stabilization in Panasonic's Micro 4/3 lenses (1 Viewer)

Dear all,

Does anyone know whether the image stabilization system in Panasonic's Micro 4/3rds lenses works when the camera is mounted on a tripod? They do not seem to have any tripod mode or panning mode. Has anyone tried using a tripod-mounted camera with the OIS switched on? Is there any effect on image quality?

Thanks :t:

According to the manual for the GH2 there are three stabilizing modes. These can be found under Stabilizer in the record mode menu.

Mode 1 enables the stabilizer at all times. Mode 2 enables it only when the shutter is pressed. Mode 3 is the panning mode.

The manual recommends turning off image stabilization when using the camera on a tripod.

For the G3 Panning mode is selected via the menu

The manual recommends turning off image stabilization when using the camera on a tripod.

Thanks guys! :t:

By the way, does anyone know whether this applies to the image stabilization built into the body of the Olympus PEN Micro 4/3 cameras?
