Hi All

I am about to set off to sail across the Pacific; St Lucia, Colombia, Panama, Panama Canal, Galapagos, Marquesas, French Polynesia, Tonga,Fiji and then down to New Zealand.

I have purchased 2 books:
1. The Birds of Hawaii and the Tropical Pacific by Pratt, Bruner and Berrett.
2. A Guide to the Birds of Fiji and Western Polynesia by Dick Watling.

also the following Apps:

1. Birding Field Guides Panama.
2. BirdsEye Galapagos.

Any other suggestions?

Many thanks.

This is a really good book on Galapagos that also includes mammals and reptiles: http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Mammals...19352&sr=1-1&keywords=galapagos+mammals+birds

There is also this one which I do not know, and seems to have a little different scope, but is available in a kindle version: http://www.amazon.com/Naturalist-Gu...UTF8&qid=1451319309&sr=1-6&keywords=galapagos

For Columbia:
Traditionally viewed as best: http://www.amazon.com/Guide-Birds-C...=1451319675&sr=1-2&keywords=birds+of+columbia
smaller option: http://www.amazon.com/Field-Colombi...=1451319675&sr=1-1&keywords=birds+of+columbia

How complete is that Panama app? I guess many of the missing species could be found in whichever of the Columbia books you choose. Otherwise, this is a good one: http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Panama-...id=1451319879&sr=1-1&keywords=birds+of+panama
Where to watch: http://www.amazon.com/Bird-finding-...id=1451319879&sr=1-4&keywords=birds+of+panama

If you mean St Lucia in the Caribbean, then you probably cannot get anything better than: http://www.amazon.com/Birds-Indies-...51319995&sr=1-1&keywords=birds+of+west+indies

Others will have to answer for the other areas

Niels

PS: I would probably not like to do a trip like this without something like: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Whales-Dolp...355&sr=1-1&keywords=whales+dolphins+and+seals
