Lunar Y Underwing?
I trapped a moth in my garden in central Norfolk a few days ago that I think is Lunar Yellow Underwing. The only problem is that I didnt check the hindwing before it flew off.. Lunar Y would be a new moth for me so i'm trying to justify ticking it! :)
My question is .. can they be identyfied from good quality photos and is it possible to see the 'crescent' that rules out runt Large Y underwings from below? Below is composite photo of my possible Lunar on left and a Lesser caught today from above and below. You can see a dark line on both from below I didnt manage to photograph any Large Y underwings as they all flew off quickly... Any thoughts on the ID of the moth would be great Sacha
