it is all grey but has a V in its tail so it doesn`t look like a dove
and it isn`t shy :-O it is still there in my tree and has been for the last 30 mins

Hi,
I think it looks like a Collared Dove. The tail may show a V due feather loss or if conditions are windy. Hope this helps.
 
Hi Jo-amiga.

It's a Collared Dove, if it hangs around check the black partial collar on the sides of the neck for confirmation.

it`s always the way, it`s gone now:C but it seemed a lot fatter than the usual doves that come to my garden
the zoom on my digicam isn`t that great so i had to go out and get up close to take the pic - then i had to go change my socks and slippers `cos my toes were wet from standing on the wet grass 3:) hope the neighbours didn`t see me :hi:
 
yes i see them often too, usually in pairs or more but not this fat and certainly not with a V at the end of its tail, so i wondered if there was another bird similar to the dove that`s grey
