Hello ,

I'm a 23 year old man from South Ayrshire and recently visited the Red Kite feeding station near castle douglas it was fantastic! Just thought id join the forum and see if i can learn more about our fantastic birds

Hi Kmcclung and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I've just had a long weekend in Stranraer and got right down to the bottom of the Mull of Galloway. That's such a lovely area, I'll need to re-visit.

All things Scottish can be found here. Also, keep an eye on threads titled something like Scottish Bashes; we try to meet up occasionally and they're always great fun. You'd be most welcome to join us on another if you can manage.

We had a super one a few years back based around the Caerlaverock area, and also went to see the Kites; no doubt there'll be even more in the area now. What a grand time we had that weekend.

I'll look forward to hearing your news from the South West.

Thanks for the warm welcome and quick reply! I'm fairly new to the world of bird watching and i'm very lucky to have an osprey nest only 20 mins from the house. So far this forum seems absolutley fantastic :)

Hi again Kieran

If you're not too far from Dumfries, try to get yourself to Caerlaverock or Mersehead in the winter - the geese flocks are just amazing!!!

Mind they're good places to visit at any time of the year;)
