I don't have any earth-shattering insights into these two models, but I will make a few comments based upon my side-by-side testing of them. The EDG has a quite a bit larger sweet spot, handles glare quite a bit better, and has smoother focusing. It is about 15% heavier though, and about 20 mm longer than the Victory. I think the Victory has somewhat more contrast and resolution in the center of the field, but I found the view of the EDG to be easier on the eyes. I'm not a fan of the focuser on the Victory, but it's okay. I prefer the buttery smooth focus of the EDG. Overall I rate the Nikon EDG II higher than the Zeiss Victory, weight excepted. They are both great binoculars though. Of course they are quite expensive new, but if you can find a used one or perhaps even a refurbished one for a good price, I wouldn't hesitate. I've never tried the Swarovski/Leica competitors.
